This is chapter 7 from New Century Book 5: The Princess Thieves

If you want to hear more it is available on Bandcamp in full audiobook form.

A swashbuckling comedy fantasy adventure from the creator of Tiger's Eye and Arlington.

In 1873 an enormous doorway between realms opened up in the north of London and on the other side was a parallel British Isles named Britannica.

This place was home to two new races, the short, stubborn, Duart and the hulking, green-skinned Akka. What they brought with them when they stepped through to aid us and settle in our damaged country was an army of tough firecasters to see off our monster problem and a class system that humans fit roughly in the middle of.

In the week this story takes place, Gwendoline, the last remaining family member of Britain’s royal Saxe-Coburg bloodline is preparing to be married to the Duart lord; Aaron of Britannica.

Before that happens the young princess will be going on the adventure of a lifetime, through the dangerous, filthy streets of London, through the doorway between worlds and beyond.

Part of the New Century Multiverse, a saga set across many worlds with each story constituting a piece of the grand mosaic.

This is chapter 19 from New Century Book 4: Arlington

This story takes place in 1883, the year Vice President Rutherford B. Hayes was eaten by a manticore.

It is a chronicle of the Arlington family who had a profound effect on this alternate history America.

Thomas and Sarah are the director and deputy director of the National Intelligence Agency, an organization desperately attempting to pull together the remnants of the American people.

The country and indeed the world has been ravaged by an infection that leaves its victims feral and vicious. The Arlingtons need to use their brains, their diplomacy and their Washington connections and make impossibly hard decisions every single day.

Their twin daughters Harriet and Truth are employed respectively as an inventor for the military and the White House communications director.

All of them are up against a dark and unavoidable streak of prejudice in the American psyche, and their every decision is met with opposition of some kind. They must grapple with their own anger, fear naivety and obsession with control,

With President Grant's health failing the race is on to find a replacement before the damaged country is left without a leader and to uncover the perpetrators of this assassination.

This is chapter 2 from New Century Book 3: Tiger's Eye

Set on an alternate Earth where great cats evolved to become the dominant species, Tiger’s Eye follows Hrao, a somewhat obsessive-compulsive hunter who one day discovers a human child adrift in the river. This is the story of her epic quest to get rid of him.

They journey out into a land shrouded in mystery, at once ancient and new, beset on all sides by dangers both strange and personal.
Hrao is going to have to let her guard down a little in order to forge the kind of companionship that might allow at least one of them to survive this perilous road.

This is chapter 11 from New Century Book 2: Secret Rooms

America has survived a war of independence, a civil war and a plague that has transformed its people into feral predators. Now humanity needs to pull together or face extinction.

Sharp-eyed doctor James Penrose and foul-mouthed boxer Abigail Grey are new recruits to the Cartographer Scouts, agents of the reunified US government. They set off across West Virginia, a dangerous wilderness now home to the savage victims of the wendigo outbreak.

Fortunately for James and Abigail their accompanying Captain is none other than sharpshooting legend Annie Oakley. What they find on their journey, however, is like nothing this world has seen before.

The late 19th century alternate America laid down in The Cartographer’s Handbook is explored up close and personal, through the eyes of these new heroes.

This is the second book in Phase 1 of the ongoing New Century series. The first five books can be read in any order and the sixth; SteamHeart brings many of the surviving heroes together.

This is chapters 1 & 2  from New Century Book 1: The Cartographer's Handbook

Ostensibly written by Thomas W. Arlington, director of the newly formed National Intelligence Agency, this book is given to scouts of the Reunified States Military, setting out to travel and chart an America beset since 1872 by a lethal new plague.

The infected devolve to an aggressive, feral state and it is up to what remains of a shattered government, operating out of the reclaimed Washington DC, to re-establish contact and form a total army of the people if they are to stand a chance of retaking their land.

But these wendigos are not the only strange phenomena this damaged world will encounter.

This is the first book in Phase 1 of the ongoing New Century series. The first five books can be read in any order and the sixth; SteamHeart brings many of the surviving heroes together.
